Prairie Poppy (Herbalist 9) - the easy way

The easiest way to get the Prairie Poppy as Arthur, with no buggy or animal methods needed.

The step-by-step version saves your place, times your run and ticks off your Ledger as you go.

The steps

1. Unlock Javier's mission marker near Blackwater

   • Where: Javier Escuella mission marker, by Blackwater

   First you need the mission marker by Blackwater to be unlocked - on the map it is Javier Escuella's mission icon, next to the Upper Montana River above Blackwater. You do not have to start it, it just has to be on your map.

   • Open the map
   • Check Javier's mission icon is there by Blackwater

2. Ride through Lone Mule Stead

   • Where: Lone Mule Stead, Big Valley
   • When: Afternoon (the video is around 3 PM)

   Ride down through Lone Mule Stead in Big Valley. Ride around the side like the video so the Pinkertons are less likely to spawn.

   • Ride to Lone Mule Stead
   • Follow the same path as the video

3. Cross the Upper Montana River

   • Where: Upper Montana River

   Ride straight across the shallow Upper Montana River and up the rocky path on the other side.

   • Ride through the river
   • Go up the rocky path

4. Head as if you are going to the mission

   • Where: Great Plains, West Elizabeth

   Keep riding towards the mission marker. It makes the game think you are heading to the mission, so the Pinkertons will not suddenly spawn. You are now in the Great Plains ("Wanted Dead or Alive" shows on screen).

   Watch out: Arthur is wanted here - do not hang around near Blackwater town.

5. Walk into the yellow grass - the poppy is close

   Get off your horse. The Prairie Poppy is not far from here - walk into the dry yellow grass field.

6. Pick the Prairie Poppy

   Look for a small red-orange flower low in the yellow grass and pick it. The map at 1:33 shows the exact spot - just north of Blackwater, at the edge of the red (no-go) area.

7. Head back (or do the mission)
