Explorer challenges 1-10 (treasure maps)

The Explorer challenges are the treasure hunts: High Stakes, Jack Hall Gang, Landmarks of Riches, the Poisonous Trail and the Annesburg sketched map - every map, every spot.

The steps

High Stakes: find the treasure hunter
- Where: Between Hawks Eye Creek and the Dakota River (map at 15:12)
- When: Sunny, between 10 AM and 12 PM
First find this man - he has the High Stakes map. You can do this in any chapter.
- Ride to the spot on the map
- Look for the man standing alone
Watch out: If he is not there: 1) make sure it is sunny, 2) try between 10 AM and 12 PM (in-game time).

Steal the map: lasso and hogtie him
- Weapon or tool: Lasso
Aim at him and talk, then lasso him and hogtie him. Search him and take the map.

Map 2: Cumberland Falls
- Where: Cumberland Falls, near Valentine
The map shows Cumberland Falls, where the 2nd map is. Ride there (it is next to Valentine).

Climb to the opposite side

You need to get to the opposite side of the falls. If you do not have enough stamina, drink a tonic BEFORE you start.

Jump behind the waterfall

Once you are behind the waterfall you have to jump down to reach the map.

Map 3: Barrow Lagoon - the broken tree
- Where: Barrow Lagoon, Ambarino
The 3rd map location is Barrow Lagoon. Head to the broken tree and search it.

Climb down - do NOT just jump

You want to get down to the ledge, but if you just jump you might die. Climb down the way the video does.

Jack Hall Gang: buy map 1 from Maximo
- Where: Near the Dakota River (map at 21:15)
Go to this spot near the Dakota River. Maximo asks "Senor, can I show you something?" - buy the map for $10 (or rob him).
